Evy Gruyaert

test

We ran into Evy Gruyaert on a cozy Saturday afternoon. Our favorite TV-presenter was enjoying a day of shopping with her family. ‘Ghent is a very cozy mini-city with great boutiques, where I love to shop.’ Evy in real-life is at least as charming as Evy on TV and obviously dresses a bit more daring. ‘I love fashion and mixing different brands and styles. I absolutely try not to be a trendslave’. Her look is very inspiring and is perfect for this soft winter we have been experiencing in Belgium. The maxi-skirt and biker jacket combo becomes winter proof by adding a pair of stockings and a huge scarf. The perfect weekend look!

Famousbox

test

I have a confession to make … I’m addicted to sale shopping. On the first day, I always take a day off (the best day of the holiday season) and head to the center with my sister and my mother to shop till we drop. But of course this one day is not enough to satisfy my hunger. I can not resist to browse the web and look for interesting bargains. My preference goes without a doubt to smaller, local online shops where you can rely on their expertise for an interesting selection of brands and pieces. The Belgian shopfamousbox.be sells my favorite Belgian brands such as Wouters & Hendrix, Clio Goldbrenner and Essentiel, besides other favorites such as New Balance, Sotch & Soda and of course Paul & Joe Sister . When I spotted this cat sweater with such a great reduction, I could not help myself but click it home and “jump for joy” when it was delivered a few days later. You, lucky bastards, can still buy this sweater and many other great pieces at great prices on famousbox.be , so click away and enjoy the sales like I do!

I have a confession to make…

Elke from Fashion one

test

There is a new hotspot in town and once more it is Christophe Urbains creativity that’s behind it. In the basement of the Rewind men store, you can discover Rewind B.L.C.K.+, a true haven for minimalists with brands like Rick Owens and Avelon. An event like this draws attention of the press. The new channel Fashion One was present that evening and we decided to streetstyle Elke Sockeel, the face of Fashion One. Elke got this dream job through a competition. She studied bedrijfspsychologie and Business Economics, but always had a passion for fashion. Her nickname from when she was little is ‘lokkemientje’, which means ‘my skirt’ in dialect. Elke loves to shop and loves to shop a lot. She buys a lot of fast fashion and invests in designer vintage. That night she respected the informal black dress code, but spiced things up with the silver. A wonderful combination!

Lara

test

We spotted high fashion in the streets of Ghent! As streetstylers, this is a nice change, since a look like this is quite rare in our hometown. The laser cut pencil skirt with killer heels is very Carine Roitfeld. The tight skirt with an oversized cropped top is a modern and inspiring silhouette. The way Lara accessorised the silhouette with oversized sunglasses, a Balenciaga bag and a fancy hair jewel is inspiring. Lara is studying law in Ghent and has a large shopping budget. She loves big fashion brands such as Alexander Wang, Lanvin, Balmain and Alexander McQueen, but also fast fashion brands such as Topshop and Zara. Lara draws inspiration from the best magazines such as Vogue, L’Officiel and Harper’s Bazaar and applies this in her personal style. She really nailed it in this look. It’s a true showstopper!

Sofie

test

Frankly, I have to admit that when I first met Sofie I was jealous. Of her handbag. The Rocco bag from Alexander Wang is one of my favorite items and has therefore been on my wishlist for quite some time. How Sofie styled the bag in this look, is also fantastic. I love the combination of a light blue shirt with leopard. Very timeless, chic, but also a bit tough. Sofie told us that her style has certain rock elements in it, with leather trousers, biker jackets, etc. .. Sofie works at PR agency Oona and is the sister of stylist Marieke. She says that she loves to go shopping with her sister, because she can give inspiration And of course, Sofie has a soft spot for Ghent. Her favorite spots include Vintage, Simon Says, Godot or just the Graslei. Aaaaah … Who doesn’t love our city?
