The End

The end ghentstreetstyle

After almost 5 years of streetstyling, Bram and I are ready for a new chapter. We want to thank everybody that helped turn this blog into what it is today. We also want to thank all of our readers and followers for the endless support. But most importantly, we want to thank all of you guys that make the world such an interesting and inspiring place. The street is where our inspiration comes from and this will never change.

What will happen with Ghentstreetstyle is a surprise and challenge for all of us. For now all I leave you with is this quote ‘Every end is a new beginning…’.

Let’s explore with Palladium

Everyone has those brands that bring up a lot of memories from their childhood. To me one of the most important brands is Palladium. Our family had the habit to travel to all kinds of far and exotic destinations every summer. For one month we went back to basics and explored countries such as Sri Lanka, Haiti, Ecuador, Malaysia, Botswana, Uganda,… Every summer a different destination and a new adventure. A pair of Palladium boots was a true companion during all those hiking trips through the dessert of Morocco, the jungle in Ecuador or the savannah in Botswana. I have worn out countless pairs, just as my parents and my sister. I couldn’t be happier that this classic is now making a comeback. If you haven’t noticed, Palladiums are hot and this makes me rediscover the brand. This time, I decided to pick a black pair. They will be my companions this summer during festivals, our big trip planned to Indonesia and all my next exploring adventures!

It’s my personal believe that style is something that runs in the family. It probably has to do with education. If you are around parents or siblings that pay a lot of attention to detail and aesthetics you probably have a greater possibility of sharing that interest. Anyway: one of the greatest things is to have a sibling that shares the same interests as you. This is the case of Joan, little sister of Gladys. Just like Gladys she has a very interesting personal style and is extremely creative. She is actually a vital part of Gladys’ blog since Joan is the one behind the camera. And if you see her work, you can tell she is already very talented for someone who’s only 16 years old. We can’t wait to see how she will evolve in the future!

Minju Kim

To our great surprise we ran into Minju Kim at the fashion show of the KASK. You may recognize her as the winner of the H&M Design award 2013. She got the opportunity to design her own collection for H&M. It turned into a great success. The collection was sold out in a few moments. Minju studied at the Fashion Academy of Antwerp, but is originally from South Korea. She is one of those designers whose personal style is a clear reflection of her designs. She is wearing shoes of her own design and a top by a local Korean designer. Let’s stop for a second to focus on het beautiful plexi Delvaux bag. I’m jealous already! Belgian designer Eddy Anemian, a 24-year old student at La Cambre, won this year’s H&M Design award. We can’t wait for his collection to hit stores!
