The second year in a row we got the opportunity to be part of the jury for the Young Creative Chevrolet competition. We had the difficult task to select a winner in the categories of fashion, graphic design and photography. The results were made public at Bozar in Brussels. It was a relief for the Liège fashion students Nysten and Vegter when they heard their name being called as winners in the fashion category. The assignment for the fashion students this year was to develop a look for a supporter of the Manchester United football team. With their sexy and multifunctional design, the creation of these young ladies stood out. Nysten (long hair) and Vegter (short hair) collaborated on this look and this was unique in the competition. In the design process, they are fully complementary: Nysten likes structure, special shapes and a tranforming element in her looks. Vegter is an expert in color combinations and fabric selection. We would like to congratulate the ladies and we cross our fingers that they will get further in the European competition!

One of my favorite nominated fashion blogs, was The Merrymakers. Antwerp duo Ruth and Nathalie each have a distinct style and their blogposts are therefore always endlessly inspiring. Ruth’s outfit for the blog awards was right up my alley. The lovely jacket by Iro, the surprisingly beautiful Guess booties and the classic Balenciaga bag, create a gorgeous monotone and comfortable look. ‘Since I’m blonde, I can not go too crazy. Otherwise you get kind of a barbie effect.’ Ruth describes her own style as casual. She works for the PR agency Oona and likes to invest in more expensive pieces. The blogawards is one of those events where people still dress up. To be honest, I miss this sometimes… Today,dressing casual is acceptable at almost every event. Although I fully support this, I can really enjoy dressing up for once. Paulien looked fantastic the night of the blogawards. Her outfit was simple, yet inspiring. The cropped top with the wider skirt creates a fun, fresh and comfortable look. The best part is that this look is not the most expensive. Paulien said she shops mainly high street, because she happens to find a lot of great things. She also enjoys vintage hunting. Knack weekend Blog awards 2013

Yesterday was ‘le moment suprême’ for me and Bram: the results of the blogawards. The event took place in Smets, Brussels. It was our first visit to this store and we were really impressed: gigantic and filled with a wonderful selection of designer clothes. Along with an open bar, Moochie frozen yoghurt and a lot of reunited bloggers, the atmosphere was amazing. The ceremony itself was nerve-racking for us until the end, since ‘fashion’ is always the last category to be called. It was a huge relief to see that we were in the top three again. We eventually came in second, a step forward compared to last year. We would like to congratulate all the winners and thank our readers to vote for us!
